AUTOGENOUS SULFIDES IN BOTTOM SEDIMENTS OF THE UKRAINIAN RIVERS
The results of microscopic studies of sulphides formed in contemporary river sediment are shown. Vertical mineralogical zonality of alluvial sediments is discovered. Oxides and hydroxides of iron form in their top zone, marcasite crystallizes, lower oxigen barrier, and at the bottom of the section marcasite is replaced by pyrite. Sulphides formed during the early stage of river sediments diagenesis can make searching importance. They are one of the sources of marcasite and pyrite accumulation in sediments of the Black Sea, and Azov. Key words: marcasite, pyrite, hydroxide of iron, gold, micro-spherulites, diagenesis, river sediment.
