ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING AS A BASIC ELEMENT OF MARINE STRATEGY OF UKRAINE
According to the Ukraine–European Union Association Agreement Ukraine have to realize a number of actions in order to implement the EC Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) up to 2021. The actions include: initial assessment of the environmental status of the Black Sea and Azov Sea within the maritime territorial and exclusive economic zones of Ukraine (TEZ), determination and approval of good environmental status (GES) for ecosystems of the Black Sea and Azov Sea in TEZ, establishment of environmental targets and measures in order to achieve GES. All these actions are parts of the marine strategy, the basic element of which is the state marine environmental monitoring.
