CHAUDA DEPOSITS OF THE BLACK SEA SHELF OF BULGARIA
On the local structural uplifts developed in the central and northern parts of the Black Sea shelf of Bulgaria, 8 wells were drilled at sea, depths – 60 m. In the interval 22–60 m (absolute mark – 45 m) sandyargillaceous deposits from the fauna of mollusks were encountered. In the southern part of the shelf (south of Cape Emine) sediments with a similar fauna were found by a shock tube on the monoclinic structure of the East Stara Planina at a depth of 45 m. It was established that the Chauda deposits in facies in certain sections of the shelf have some differences. First of all, in the composition of mollusk complexes, which are considered by individual researchers to be ancient Euxine sediments (Nanevska area). Arguments are presented in favor of the confinement of the Mediterranean fauna to the upper part of the Chaudin deposits of the Black Sea shelf of Bulgaria. The obtained results of the investigation of quaternary deposits of the Black Sea shelf of Bulgaria can be used for mapping, selecting areas for structural and parametric drilling for oil and gas, laying communication lines and laying gas mains.
Keywords: Black Sea, Chaudin deposits, correlation.
