RESEARCH OF PYRITES FROM EJECTIONS OF MUD VOLCANOES OF AZERBAIJAN
Pyrite is one of the widespread sulfide minerals of the mud volcanoes of Azerbaijan. A characteristic feature of these pyrites is the scarcity of their crystalline forms. Only in some volcanic products its fairly cubic, cubicoctahedral crystals be found). But, in emissions of mud volcanoes its aggregate species are very common, differing in shape and development. It should be noted that the shape and variability of pyrite aggregates can provide valuable information about the crystallization process, and about the direction of moving crystalforming solutions. In this aspect, the identification of the relationship between the shape of pyrite aggregates and their genesis, the pattern of distribution of isomorphic and mechanical impurities in pyrites from mud volcanoes is of great scientific interest.
Keywords: pyrite, mud volcanoes, elemental composition, crystalline forms, Azerbaijan.
